Superintendent Search Public Engagement

On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) will host a Public Engagement Meeting at Walter Cohen High School (3575 Baronne Street, New Orleans, LA 70115) to introduce the finalists for 天博体育鈥� next Superintendent. Louisiana Act 370?
ACT 370, authored by State Senator Rick Edmonds and enacted during the 2023 Regular Legislative Session, will increase financial transparency in Louisiana K-12 public and charter school systems. The law requires school governing authorities to provide specific financial information to the Louisiana Department of Treasury, which will be housed on the School Transparency Project Portal. This site allows citizens to compare school budgets in traditional public schools and public charter schools.

The Leah Chase School
On Monday, February 26, 2024, the Orleans Parish School Board unanimously approved the creation of The Leah Chase School. It will be 天博体育 (NOLA-PS) first, permanent direct-run school in 18 years. to learn more.

This transformative plan focuses on educational excellence, emphasizing Equity, Achievement, Transparency, Efficiency, and Transformation. Superintendent Dr. Avis Williams invites the community to participate in shaping the future of education. NOLA-PS Evolve builds on the existing strategic plan, with key commitments, including Effective and Connected Communications, High-Quality Schools, Students, Staff, and Community Wellbeing, and Operational Excellence. Initiatives like the "Portrait of a Graduate," NOLA-PS CAREs program, and mental health promotion are central. The plan prioritizes responsiveness to changing needs and values community engagement for alignment with stakeholders' needs. Your involvement is appreciated as we work together to enhance education. Ask Listen Learn Campaign
Ask, Listen, Learn is a free, fully digital, turnkey underage drinking prevention program for kids ages 9-13, their educators, and families. It is aligned to Common Core, Next Generation Science, and National Health Education standards. The program contains eight modules 鈥� seven focused on alcohol and the developing brain and one focused on cannabis and the developing brain 鈥� that are neuroscience-focused animation videos with accompanying lesson plans, classroom activities, and resources for both educators and parents. New Orleans-based artist and activist Brandan 鈥楤Mike鈥� Odums has created art for the lesson plans and program that reflect New Orleans youth and culture.
